Scope of Work:

The contractor required a communication system that would allow the operatives working within the tunnel to communicate directly with the above ground operatives, engineers and machine operators. PBE was awarded the contract to undertake the design, supply and testing and commissioning of a contemporary UHF communication system, utilizing radiating cable system for below ground, and a distributed antenna system for above ground coverage.

Project Description: The Hetch Hetchy Water System provides approximately 260 million gallons of water per day to 2.4 million people in the California counties of San Francisco, Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Mateo. The Sierra Nevada snowmelt, stored within a reservoir in Yosemite National Park, supplies 85 percent of this water. It then flows 160 miles by gravity through a series of tunnels and pipelines to the Bay Area. Heightened awareness following the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and drought conditions in the 1990s led the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to undertake an upgrade and rehabilitation program for the entire water system.
Scope of Work:

Client required temporary communication during the completion of their annual maintenance of the Sewer Tunnel. The contract was awarded to PBE who provided a Leaky Feeder System

London Power Tunnels

Project Description: The project involved the construction of a 32km tunnel, approx 40m below the ground and included the installation of 8no 400Kva cables. The purpose of this project being that London would be able to access the renewable energy of the future.
Scope of Work:

The power tunnels extend about 36 km in length and include 12 equipment head ends. Provided a VHF voice radio system, telephone network and dispatch console system in the large tunnel network. The radiating cable network supports voice communication. A fiber optic network, with a redundant Virtual Private Network (VPN), supports Motorola MotoTrbo IP Site connect roaming between head ends, telephone interconnect, dispatch consoles and network redundancy. Operator consoles were delivered to provide operators with the ability to monitor and patch calls, and to monitor man-down alarms on VHF voice radios.

The client requested that PBE design and supply a system enable cellular coverage throughout the building. PBE fulfilled this request by designing and providing a Hybrid system , which incorporated a radiating cable network, fibre backbone and distributed antenna system.

Scope of Work:

PBE was awarded the contract to undertake the design and supply of the voice and video communication system, along with the ability to transmit and receive data. In order to fulfill this requirement PBE incorporated a hybrid architecture of both conventional radiating cable and fibre optic cable. The system needed to have the ability to be controlled and monitored from a remote location and also still have a high level of redundancy.
