Peter Ickeringill

Peter Ickeringill is a seasoned corporate lawyer with over 40 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly within the manufacturing, media, and financial services sectors. He has held significant roles in major commercial hubs, including London, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Melbourne. Notably, he served as an executive director and group general counsel for the Daily Mail and General Trust Group, one of the world's largest media conglomerates.

In October 2014, Peter joined the Melbourne office of global law firm Baker McKenzie as a global partner. His extensive international experience and deep understanding of global markets have been instrumental in advising boards, CEOs, and senior executives on complex corporate transactions and disputes.

Throughout his career, Peter has been involved in several high-profile deals. These include the establishment of Orora Group and its demerger from Amcor, Sinopec’s acquisition of joint venture interests in the East Timor Sea from AED Oil, the multi-billion dollar restructure and purchase of French specialty bottle manufacturer Saverglass, the demerger from DMGT and privatisation of Euromoney, and the creation of Daily Mail Australia through a joint venture between DMGT, Nine Entertainment, and Mi9.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Peter is committed to community service. He has volunteered for various organizations, notably serving previously as chairman and president of the Deafness Foundation, a public charity dedicated to supporting the deaf and hearing-impaired community in Australia, and presently as chairman of Brighton Grammar School.
